Global bans
Global bans
What are global bans?
The global ban list contains users who have been confirmed as scammers across the AntiScammer network. When a user on this list joins a server where the AntiScammer bot is present, they are automatically banned. This protects your community without requiring manual action.
How does it protect my server?
Once you have the AntiScammer bot in your server with scam detection enabled:
- Known scammers are blocked automatically when they try to join
- Your moderators receive fewer scam reports to handle
- The list is shared across all protected servers, so one confirmed scammer cannot easily move to another server
Escalating a scam report
When you or your moderators confirm a scammer in your server, you can request a global ban so that user is blocked everywhere:
- Use
/reportor the report button on a message to submit a scam report - In the report embed (in your report channel), click "Escalate to Global Mod" or "Escalate to Global Mod and ban"
- AntiScammer staff will review the request. If approved, the user is added to the global ban list
- The user will then be auto-banned when joining any protected server
Lookup a user
Use /lookup_ban user_id: to check if a Discord user ID is on the global scammer list. This is useful when you want to verify someone before they join or when investigating a report.
